The Bernette 33 Swiss Design Sewing Machine is a great machine for basic home sewing. It is made in Switzerland and has a metal tag on the back of the machine that says it is manufactured for BERNINA International AG. It is easy to learn and use, and has an automatic threader and a breeze to fill the bobbin. Despite its ease of use, some reviewers found that it is not the best choice for piecing quilts, as there is not a smooth transition from the tool box to the switch plate which causes the nested folds to come undone. Additionally, there is no option for the needle to stop in the down position to hold your piecing in place while double checking matching seams. Overall, this machine is good for basic home sewing and good for beginners. It is sturdy and easy to use.
