The protagonist, Lo, takes a big turn throughout the story, which is refreshing to see. The writing style is intriguing, with switches in time periods, and points of view. The novel deals with damaged people and relationships, and the ending is tied up neatly, which may not reflect real life, but it is nonetheless satisfying for readers. However, some readers found the characters unlikable and the storyline flat and unrealistic. It is a fun and twisty book that will keep readers guessing until the end.
