The General Relativity UK ed. Edition has received generally positive reviews. One reviewer stated that the book is the best "modern" textbook on general relativity and that the derivations are both clear and rigorous. The book features a complete discussion of the Schwarzschild solution and the derivation of results that can be used to test GR, with modern tests such as the slowing down of radar signals discussed in detail. However, the text is not up to date and needs to be complemented by a more modern book. Another reviewer taught themselves general relativity using this book and recommended it to friends with an interest in the subject. This book provides a nice mathematical treatment of general relativity but is not suitable as an introductory book on the subject. It is recommended that readers work through an introductory book on general relativity for undergraduates before tackling this book. The quality of the second-hand copy received by one reviewer was average and the back cover was badly bent. Overall, the book is a valuable addition to any bookshelf for anyone interested in general relativity, provided they have a good mathematical background.
